Marv Herzog Hotel

We had a lovely, quiet three night stay, and the river view was so pretty. The inn feels quaint, with spacious, clean rooms, and it’s an easy walk to town activities and restaurants. Each morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the evening snacks with wine and beer for guests were a nice extra. Everyone was helpful and pleasant, especially the women handling breakfast and snacks. We can’t wait to come back.

The hotel is beautiful and exceptionally clean and well kept, with wonderful staff and service. There are river views, plenty of parking, and great places to eat plus lots of shops and a brewery within walking distance.

The location is great, but I regretted booking here all weekend. For around $750 for Friday and Saturday night, I expected the rooms to look more like the website photos. Instead, ours was very dated, with a huge snag in the carpet, carpets that could use a scrubbing, and sloppy caulking around the tub and shower. The room was large but felt empty, with too little furniture and decoration. It was definitely overpriced. The staff we met were all extremely friendly and helpful. The snack time was a nice idea, though not spectacular: vegetables with ranch packets, cut up cheese and sausages, crackers, some stale. Breakfast was also nothing special: make-your-own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy with extremely hard biscuits, yogurt, oatmeal packets, cereal, muffins, bagels and bread. I was shocked to learn they’re owned by Drury Inn, since these meals were nothing like what we’ve had at Drury Inn.

The building was meticulously clean, and the newer beds and bedding were comfortable, with soft pillows. David at reception was fantastic, kind and knowledgeable about Frankenmuth. I also liked the hot breakfast, which was better than most, and the free evening cocktails and munchies were a nice surprise. It’s a quiet spot with a more mature crowd.
