Red Roof Inn Franklin, TN

I paid over $400 for eight days and won’t return. I’m no angel and can accept some things without complaining, but getting just one towel because they seem to assume guests will use or steal them isn’t enough for basic hygiene. The bathroom sink and toilet leaked. I didn’t complain because I figured they already knew, but nobody told me, apologized, or checked whether I needed the leak cleaned up. I just put their towels on it. Maybe I should use the toilet paper next time. Then the owner’s wife complained to me and the staff that the towels were wet. I was amused and played dumb to see what she’d say. The owner’s wife had also been telling workers my personal business. The breakfast was good and the owners were fairly priced, but you have to ask for everything because they don’t provide much food or many towels. Some people there were caring and tried to help when I was stressed, and I don’t want to bad-mouth the place or the community. Keeping a low profile and your business to yourself will probably be fine. But at checkout, the owner called the police because he wanted me to get all my bags out, even though he knew I couldn’t do that until I could book a new room at 2 pm or check in somewhere else. Being pushed to put my belongings outside in winter was hurtful and callous. They seemed cold once they thought I had no more money. I had respect for them, but my time with the owners had run out.

The room was dark and dingy, and I suspect it was kept that way so people wouldn’t notice how bad it was. While looking at a water stain near the smoke detector, I saw its battery cover partly open and discovered the detector didn’t work because there was no battery. I’ll keep this short and let the pictures show why this is one of the last places you’d want to stay.

The room itself was nice, and I took good care of it. I wasn’t smoking, and it was cleaned when I left. I checked out a whole week ago and still haven’t received my $50 deposit back. There’s no excuse for keeping it.

Visible blood stains on the comforter were the worst part, and they raised serious questions for me about hygiene and housekeeping. There were also cockroaches, heavy dust, and black mold in several spots, especially around the bathroom shower. The bathroom door was deteriorating and coming apart, and paint was peeling in the shower. The whole place looked neglected and unsanitary. This property needs a thorough cleaning, proper maintenance, and better oversight. As a paying guest, I expected basic cleanliness and safety, but it fell far short. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed recently at the Red Roof Inn in Franklin, Tennessee, and was extremely disappointed. Don’t waste your money.
