Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center

I used to stay here when it was the Holiday Inn, and it was once an amazing place. The property seems to be falling into disrepair, and it feels like amenities keep disappearing while guests become less of a priority. It's dated, though I don't mind that, and my room at least was clean. There's no pool or mini golf now. The reception desk has been moved to a dingy little hallway, where breakfast is served, while the main lobby is now sports betting. It looks like they put a lot of money into the betting area, so if that's your thing, you'll be pleased. There's no elevator, so expect to carry your things up to the second floor, and many doors don't work properly for entering or exiting. It's disheartening to see the place this way. This is the end of an era for me, and I won't be returning. It was fun while it lasted.

My partner and I spent one night here. The room was spacious, but it didn't have the microwave listed in the description. Breakfast was supposed to run until 11 a.m.; when we arrived at 10:20, the woman there told us it was closed. I asked whether it wasn't meant to end at 11, and she only nodded without answering. If you're planning to eat breakfast during your stay, apparently you need to get there before 10.

The room was clean, but the pool was out of service for maintenance, so we didn't use it. The continental breakfast had very few choices.

The hotel is clean and everyone seems nice, but we're staying here now and my room has been very chilly. The heater has been set to 90 for hours, and there's a four-month-old baby with us. There isn't a regular blanket on the bed, just a thin cover that's only a little thicker than the sheets. I asked the desk for two extra blankets, but they had none. The only option offered was another room. My husband and grandbaby were already asleep, and I wasn't going to wake them both and pack everything up to move, especially when the new room might have other problems. They also said there was no maintenance person on duty tonight. It's Friday, which makes that hard to believe. I paid $117.00 plus change for a room where we're sleeping with an infant and not getting enough heat, so I'm very disappointed. They should at least take $30.00 off the bill since I have to run to Wal-Mart to buy blankets. I don't think I'll be back soon. The pool is closed, and reviews suggest it's been closed for well over nine months; they should tell people that when they call to ask about it. I haven't tried breakfast yet, so I'll add that later. There is a restaurant and bar in the motel, though, and the place looked clean and smelled amazing when I walked by. I hope the food and prices are good. A $30.00 restaurant gift card might be a good option if they don't want to reimburse us for the missing blankets and inadequate heat.
