Best Western Plus Fredericksburg

Free coffee and juice are available anytime, and there’s a pleasant outdoor patio where you can eat breakfast. The breakfast was delicious. The room had hard floors instead of carpet, which I really liked. The hotel was clean and nice, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. It’s close to downtown Fredricksburg.

The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and the room came with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and black makeup washcloths. The conditioner still left my hair very dry. What really spoiled the stay was the stained fitted sheet and the checkout morning experience. Checkout was listed as noon on our paperwork. At 9:45 we got a call we weren’t expecting and didn’t answer. Five minutes later, a man from housekeeping was pounding on the door and telling us it was checkout. I asked if checkout was at 10 a.m., since our paperwork said 12 p.m. I understand wanting to get work done early, but pressuring guests out two hours ahead of time is unacceptable and not hospitable. The front desk apologized when we checked, but the stay had already been soured. When I pulled back the top sheet to get ready for the cleaners, I saw a lot of blood-like stains along the edge of the fitted sheet. Those sheets need replacing.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Marcie, Mary, and Millie. For the price, this was a nice hotel: the room was quiet, comfortable, and clean apart from six or seven flies we had to deal with when we arrived. Breakfast was very good. There were a few odd details. The bathroom had nowhere to hang towels, and the bed creaked when we lay down. The TV was older, so we couldn’t use AirPlay or our own HDMI cable to stream from a laptop. Also, the men’s restroom in the lobby had no soap or paper towels for our first two days. Even with those minor issues, we had a good experience and would probably return.

My first stay at a Best Western went much better than I expected. The rooms were clean, and breakfast was great. The person in charge kept everything fresh and refilled right up to the end of serving time. I’ve been disappointed by hotel breakfasts with too few choices or poor upkeep, so this one impressed me. I’d recommend this place in Fredericksburg and will start staying at more Best Western Hotels.
