Charming Bungalow W/hot tub 5min to Main St!

This is an updated review. We enjoyed our stay 10 months ago, so we came back, but the Friday night price was considerably higher and this visit was disappointing. The room wasn't in great shape, and the mess under the bathroom sink made me gag. An outside light stayed on all night and shone through because the shade didn't cover the whole window, making for a very disturbing night. Last time, it felt like excellent value. The room was clean, though they could have vacuumed better in hard-to-reach spots, and the bed was comfortable. There was a sofa and coffee table positioned so it was easy to watch TV, plus a full tub and an overhead ceiling light, a small thing I care about. The location is excellent, near historic downtown without those prices, though being on the main highway means some traffic noise. I would definitely stay here again.

For close to $150 a night, this one-night stay felt overpriced. The location worked for me, the bath products were nice, and the coffee was gourmet. The fridge worked, the shower got hot, and the cute decor was nice. The bed seemed clean, the pillows were comfortable, but the mattress was only OK and too firm for me. The room was small with lots of windows, and the bed had to sit right against a cold, drafty window. It was 20 degrees outside, and having my head by the window made me uncomfortable. The sills were dusty with dead bugs, which isn't something you want next to you while sleeping. The heater warmed the room well, but even at its lowest setting the fan blew right at the bed and made it hard to sleep. I kept switching it off to get some rest. At 3:30 a.m., after I turned off the heater that had been acting like white noise, I noticed the road noise and a Whataburger across the street. Someone was blasting bass-heavy rap from a car for 45 minutes, shaking the room. The walls are thin and there isn't much sound isolation, so I left exhausted after a rough night. In the morning I spotted more dead bugs, a hole in the wall, and a toilet paper holder coming loose. Another review mentioned a possible termite problem, and I did see some evidence of that. I was in room 1 with a lot of luggage and music gear, and the path to the room was awkward and inconvenient. I wouldn't stay here again.

A good place to stay. The shower only had cold water, but after driving 11 hours alone, I just wanted to rest and didn't bring it up.

The Fredrick holds a lot of good memories for me, which made this recent stay especially disappointing. After a photo shoot at Tunnel SP, I found there was no hot water in room one, and I had been counting on a shower that morning. I called the front desk, but they couldn't do much, and I was about to head home anyway. Still, nobody called me back about possibly reducing the cost for the inconvenience. I even emailed the person who booked the stay with me and got no response. Such a shame.
