Hilton Garden Inn Fredericksburg

The staff were the reason I wanted to leave a review. They were friendly, helpful, and top notch. The hotel is in a great spot for the Fredericksburg area, and it's nice overall. Renovations are underway, so I'm sure the rooms will be 5 star once the work is finished.

The friendly, courteous staff at the front desk and in housekeeping were a bright spot, and the location made it easy to get to shops and restaurants. But I couldn't leave a positive review this time. The hotel is beside I-95, and traffic noise carried through the day and night. The upper floors were being renovated. I was told work would begin at 9 AM, yet on our first morning the steady banging started earlier and kept my husband and me from sleeping in. Expedia didn't mention either the construction or the $7 per night parking charge. Our room was roomy, but the bathroom felt dated and needs upgrades. The lighting was very poor, the exhaust fan was weak, and there weren't enough hooks on the door, so our towels kept falling onto the floor. The shower curtain on the curved rod was too small, leaving huge gaps on both sides. In 2026, shower curtains feel archaic anyway. The toilet paper holder was also placed so awkwardly that I had to twist my body to reach it. I've stayed at Hilton Garden Inns in several states, and this is the first time I haven't been able to leave a positive review.

Housekeeping did a great job, and the staff were great apart from the bartender. This is 6our standard Hilton Garden Inn, with a good hotel gym, but the restaurant food and bartender were subpar. A domestic bottle of beer cost $12, which is insane. The reviews mention a hot tub, but there isn't one, just a small indoor pool. The place shows wear and tear, though it gets the job done. You can't really walk to much from here, but it's very close to everything by car, so you're sheltered while still having access to what you need.

The accommodations were fine, pretty standard if you travel a lot. What wasn't fine was how poorly they handled snow and ice in the parking lot and on the walkways. I know that work gets subcontracted, but someone could get seriously hurt. For what hotels cost these days, customers deserve clean, safe parking areas. If I'd known how bad the lot and sidewalks were, I would have stayed somewhere else.
