Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fredericksburg by IHG

The view was absolutely wonderful, and the pool was amazing. My room was spacious, with a nice bathroom and lovely-smelling bathroom amenities. Breakfast and the staff were amazing too. A couple of things were odd: there were random lights over my bed with no switch to use them, and the switch for the light by my door didn't work.

Breakfast was good, but the room was noisy. I could hear people next door and people walking on the second floor. It had recently been painted, and the smell lingered. There wasn't anywhere to store towels in the bathroom, so they were in the closet outside it.

After driving 4 hours, we arrived to find roaches all over the room, on the walls and crawling on the bed. I asked to switch rooms, but the front desk said the hotel was sold out. He didn't come check the room and didn't seem to care. I'm not picky and could have dealt with even one roach, but this was an infestation. Every nearby hotel was sold out, so we had to drive 4 hours back home, and our weekend plans were ruined. I'm platinum status and contacted IHG. They said they'd be in touch shortly, but never got back to me. We did get a refund, but that was all. That's how they treated even a high status member. Be aware.

The employees were all friendly, and breakfast was okay. But our first stay at a Holiday Inn Express didn't impress us. Room 220's balcony had huge flakes of peeled paint on the floor, and a chair cushion was ripped all the way across with stuffing hanging out. It looked like nobody had used that balcony in a long time. There was just one waste basket in the room. On the first floor, there were no signs showing where the lobby was. There was no printed TV channel list or guide on the remote either. There were so many handicap parking spots that we, at 78 and 83, had to walk needlessly far to the entrance.
