We booked this hotel after a long day of driving because it has a bar and restaurant, but couldn't get service there. The lights were on and a TV was playing, but nobody was behind the bar. After we'd waited 15 minutes, the desk clerk said, “she's in the back.” We returned an hour and a half later and it was still unattended. When I asked again, I was told, “she's on her way, she's stuck in traffic.” Just be honest with customers. We're not stupid. If there's no staff, don't make it look like the bar or restaurant is open. So disappointing from a brand we're loyal to.

The room itself was really nice, but the locked connecting door between it and the next room let through every sound. I could hear a phone buzzing and someone yawning. I felt like I had no privacy and was woken up several times. Ridiculous.

Clean, nice hotel, and the staff were very friendly. I'd stay again. The shower needs more water pressure, and the coffee is bad, though you can bring your own K-cups and brew them. There aren't many food choices nearby, but plenty are available one exit farther down.

We arrived to check in at 11:50 p.m., and there was just one person at the desk with a long line of people checking in or trying to sort out problems. We finally got our room cards at 12:20. The first room smelled damp, almost like vomit, and had mold on the walls (photo 1). We reported it, and the kind woman at the desk apologized right away and moved us to another room. The smell was better and there was no mold in the new room, but there were still cleanliness problems, including some strange thing on the floor. Chocolate? A dog treat? I couldn't tell, but housekeeping should have caught it. By then it was 1 a.m. We were exhausted after 15 hours on the road and didn't have the energy to go back to the desk again. We put towels over the dirty pillow and went to bed. Building maintenance and housekeeping need to be addressed ASAP. Never again at this location.

I used to work as a housekeeper at a Holiday Inn in Kentucky before I became self-employed, so I know what it takes to keep hotel rooms up. The Holiday Inn Fredericksburg Conference Center by IHG really goes above and beyond. Everything looked clean and polished from the moment I walked in. It felt more like a luxury hotel than a typical 3-star place. My room was spotless, the bathroom was fresh and well designed, and everything was stocked and arranged thoughtfully. I especially noticed the Dove body wash and lotion, the same products I use at home. That kind of care stands out. Highly recommend for comfort, cleanliness, and quality.
