La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fredericksburg

I ended up staying a whole week after Angela welcomed me at LaQuinta and found me an ADA accessible room, even though I was a walk-in with no reservation. The suite felt like home, with a nice living room, a bedroom, and large HD flatscreens in both spaces. As a disabled elderly woman, I especially appreciated the granite countertops, modern porcelain sink, high profile ADA toilet, and beautiful soaking porcelain tub in the large bathroom. The fine cotton linens, fluffy down alternative pillows, and comfortable king-size bed gave me the most peaceful sleep and rest I’ve had. The warm, friendly, professional staff were accommodating from the front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping. My room and the rest of the hotel were kept immaculately clean and polished. The lobby also made a lovely first impression, with an eye-catching fireplace, artwork, and lighting fixtures. Breakfast was delicious, with pork sausage and bacon cooked just right, fluffy scrambled eggs, and a very good Texas State shaped Belgium waffle, along with the rest of the buffet. I travel a lot for medical care between AZ and TX. I’d spent the previous month at Marriott Courtyard properties in the DFW and Austin areas as a Bonvoy member, but the front desk staff there were plain rude and the experience was far from pleasant. When an ice storm stranded me in Fredericksburg, TX, I chose not to check into the local Marriott and stopped at LaQuinta instead. The suite Angela gave me was comparable to a Fairfield Inn Executive King suite, where the average rate is $200 or more. LaQuinta rates were as low as $90 on average, a little higher on weekends, and lower than other comparable hotels in this resort town. My stay was definitely 5-star. Kudos to the whole LaQuinta - Fredericksburg, TX staff!
