Mendelbaum Winery Guest Cabins

The room was filthy and crawling with bugs. We found a live scorpion, large bees, and spiders, and felt too unsafe to relax. After we raised the problem, the manager was incredibly rude and refused to refund us. He pressured us to stay even though we were clearly frightened and uncomfortable. One of the worst hotel stays I've had.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. There were scorpions in the restroom, spiders throughout the room, and wild bees inside. When we reported it, the owner just said it was “okay” and acted like we should be fine staying among all those animals. He was supposed to help, but came across as extremely rude and dismissive. If I could give zero stars, I would. Easily the worst experience I've had, and it felt completely unacceptable and unsafe.

My birthday weekend with six people was ruined, and I would never recommend this cabin. There was a scorpion in the bathtub and bees and spiders upstairs. The place smelled bad, looked dirty, and the sheets seemed unwashed. When I told the owner, he was rude and didn't seem to care. He picked up the scorpion with his bare hands and tossed it outside instead of addressing the problem. The cabin felt disgusting and unsafe. He should shut it down instead of scamming people with fake pictures.

Peaceful, comfortable, and a great value. We had an amazing mini vacation at mendelbaum winery, and can't wait to come back. The cabin was just as advertised, and whenever we needed something, housekeeping took care of it right away. The owner always replied to our emails quickly. If you're after a nice cabin and wildlife in the Texas Hill country, this is your place. We'd highly recommend it, and we're very grateful to the owner.
