Holiday Inn Express & Suites Terre Haute by IHG

I used to stay here often, and came back for the first time in a couple of years. The place still has strengths: I found the area and staff okay, the room was clean, and there were no bugs. But being able to sleep and feel safe matters, and this stay failed on both. A woman had already complained that random people were standing outside her room. She was upset that she had been moved while the person causing the problem was left alone, and Josh at the front desk didn't step in. Then around 1 a.m., a rowdy group arrived across several rooms. They left the adjoining door deadbolt sticking out, ran between rooms and inside them, shouted, and slammed doors. I called Josh; he spoke to them once, but the noise continued. When I called again around 1:30, he said he'd kick them out if it didn't stop. The voices got quieter after he went over, but the running and slamming carried on. At 2:30 he said he needed to ask his manager what to do, and at 3 he was still waiting for the manager to call. Other employees told me the next day that he could have had the group removed. There's a casino nearby, and it seems to bring in louder guests than before. Weekends may be especially noisy, possibly because of the casino. If you need rest, I wouldn't stay then. There's a previous review describing something similar, so this seems to be a real problem. Being left to lose sleep, leave, or handle things yourself is not acceptable, and that last option could go badly for everyone.
