The Winchester Lodge

Breakfast was complimentary and we ate it by the pool: overnight oats, fresh strawberries, waffles, orange juice, and freshly brewed hot coffee. Our two-story room for our anniversary was quaint, with a pool view, a big walk-in shower, and soft, fluffy towels. It also had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee machine, which made things comfortable. Winchester Lodge has a peaceful feel just off the main street, while still being an easy walk to local attractions. It’s a charming and convenient place for a Fredericksburg getaway. We’d definitely stay again.

The in-room gas fireplace was a great touch, and we could keep our bikes on the private patio in the upstairs Suite 8. We really enjoyed our stay at The Winchester Lodge. The rooms have a rustic feel with modern updates, and we especially liked the huge shower. Breakfast was delivered to our room each day. The property is incredibly convenient for visiting the Museum of the Pacific. We’ll stay here again on our next Fredericksburg visit.

The breakfasts arrived right on time each morning and were delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and everything we needed was supplied. We felt comfortable and pampered. Suite 16 was roomier and better quality than the photos made it look. The furniture and bed were comfortable, and the jacuzzi tub and rainfall shower were heavenly. The property is well maintained and very clean, with plenty of Fredericksburg charm. I’d read comments about needing a step stool for the bed and tub, and worried enough that I almost didn’t book. I’m short and a large woman, but managed the bed, tub, and stairs just fine. We brought our own stool and I only used it for the tub, though I probably would’ve managed without it. Some of those concerns seemed exaggerated to me, so please don’t let them put you off. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay.

It feels like a country resort right in town, with a lovely setting just steps from shops and restaurants. Our spacious, clean Unit 1 was comfortable, and the breakfast basket each morning and outdoor fireplace were both delightful. The pool looked great too. The bedroom and bathroom were upstairs, which was no big deal. A sink downstairs by the coffee bar would have been handy, though. Other units have different layouts, so you can pick one all on one level.
