Windcrest Inn and Suites

It's an older place, which gives it a cozy feel, and our room was very clean. The price was good and we had a nice stay. There's no phone in the room, though luckily we didn't need to call anyone. Breakfast is only served on weekends, so we didn't get to try it. Very nice overall.

The staff were very friendly, and the office and sitting area by the entrance looked just like the website photos. The rest of our one-night holiday stay with a friend was rough. The room was very outdated and badly needed a remodel. There was shampoo but no conditioner, an ironing board without an iron, no blow dryer, and just one sugar packet for the coffee. The shower curtain smelled mildewy, and the tub and shower were so disgusting that we both waited until we got home to bathe. The AC blew air but never cooled the room, so we opened the window to make it cool enough to sleep. There was no room phone, meaning we'd have had to walk to the office to ask for anything. The only vending machine didn't work, and finding an outdoor trash can took forever because they were all grouped in one spot. There were plenty of smoking areas and ashtrays outside, and we saw people smoking marijuana. Breakfast was okay, though an employee stood guard over the food, and a note asked guests not to take food back to their rooms. I've never seen that before. I wish we'd thought to take pictures.

My husband, our 11 Mo old, and I arrived at windcrest Inn and suites around midnight and found roaches all over the room. The office hours said it closed at 9pm, with calls only for emergencies. This was a hazard, so we left. The next afternoon I went back to ask for a refund, but the owner refused, suggested I might be lying and said we could have stayed in the room. I had pictures showing the infestation and asked her to check the cameras. She still wouldn't refund us. Her only response was, “you didn’t call. So it clearly wasn’t an emergency”. The “emergency number” listed on the website is the lobby number. I'm sharing what happened so others can avoid the same experience.

We booked two days but left after one because too much wasn't up to par. It was the 4th of July weekend, so paying more was normal, but I expected the stay to be worth the higher rate. The sheets smelled strongly of bleach, the floor by the entrance was wet, the shampoo was cheap and barely lathered, the beds were hard, the pool was closed, and breakfast was bland. There was no phone in the room, so asking for anything meant going downstairs. The only good things were the Folgers coffee and the gas station across the way, which had fried chicken and good sandwiches for a late-night snack. We put the door tag out early in the morning asking for the room to be cleaned. When we got back close to 5, nothing had been done. Downstairs, a staff member said they were short staffed and hadn't gotten to it. I asked for clean sheets and towels, but she said I wouldn't get sheets for one night. I explained it was our second night and asked for towels at least. She said she'd send someone up eventually. We went back upstairs, thought about whether we wanted to stay, then packed up and left. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
