Econo Lodge Freeport - Brunswick Area

People stood outside the rooms below us for hours, including a worker, and nobody seemed to care. That left us feeling unsafe. The office had a strong marijuana smell, and our first room reeked of cigarette smoke. We moved to a second room with a paper room number, but the front desk woman was rude and insisted it didn’t smell like cigarettes. The key for that room never worked, so we had to go to the desk every time. The chair was gross. The chair in our first room was a rolling desk chair, and our friends had to bring it over when they visited.

The room had a large bed, a fridge, a microwave, and a shower, with what I needed for a decent rest. It was clean and I didn’t hear noise from other guests. The start of the stay was frustrating, though, because I had to return to the desk three times when the access card wouldn’t work.

The room was clean and looked newly renovated, with a working TV and fridge, a hot shower, and everything stocked and tidy. The front staff were very friendly, and the stay turned out to be a very enjoyable place to sleep for the night and well worth the money. I went in with very low hopes because I’d never stayed at an Econo and hadn’t wanted to, but I was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was easy, though a bit old-school since I’m used to checking in without contact and heading straight to my room. The one real downside was that our non-smoking room smelled a lot like smoke and marijuana, especially by the sink at the back. There was no heat in the bathroom either, so leave the door open or cracked when it’s not in use.

The location worked really well for sightseeing, and we loved Winslow Memorial Park for swimming and a picnic. It was beautiful. Next time we’d skip Sebago and Little Sebago Lakes, which seemed a bit nondescript, and stick to sightseeing along the coast near the motel. We were a family of four and had a lovely stay at Econo Lodge. Our first room smelled strongly of smoke and marijuana, and the air conditioner was really loud, but they gave us another room when we asked, with no fuss. We had a great meal at Buck's barbeque across the road. We didn’t have time to try the beers at the brewery hall next door, though we stopped in to look and it seemed amazing. Thanks for having us!
