Motel 6 Freeport, TX

For about $50 on a Friday night, we got a good night's sleep. The room felt set up for longer stays, with a larger refrigerator and a hot plate built into the counter. It wasn't anything special and could use some repairs, but the town had plenty going on.

The beds were comfortable, and our room was a nice size, clean, and cool when we arrived. It had a roomy refrigerator and microwave. There wasn't a coffee pot or an ice bucket, so bring your own if you need them. We didn't. The pool was clean and nice, and we had no complaints.

The covered arched balcony kept us dry in the pouring rain, and the waterfront view was pretty decent. The pool was clean and open, the grills and picnic tables were usable, and our room was clean too. There were plenty of hooks and little storage spots, and the blackout shade made the room dark enough to sleep. The AC worked great, and the beds were actually comfortable. For such a dirt cheap price, I was happy with it. The mini microwave and fridge were rusty on the outside, though they worked. The microwave needed an extra minute to heat things properly. We saw one tiny bug, but usually had no bugs during the stay. The pet policy was hassle free 😅🙏🙌, so with all that considered, definitely five stars.

The room was clean and the sheets looked fresh, so after checking it out we stayed the night. But this didn't feel like a family motel. Most of the other guests seemed to be men working in the oil industry, and some vehicles made it look like people stayed here long term. If you're traveling with family and have other choices, you may want to look elsewhere. If you just need a clean, pet friendly room and can handle a rougher setting, this Motel 6 will do. When we first arrived, the place looked rough enough that I told my wife we'd probably lost our money and should find somewhere else. She suggested we check the room before deciding.
