The James Place Inn B&B

This was our sixth stay at James Place Inn, and every visit has been wonderful. The fresh-made scones are a breakfast highlight, and the rooms are always clean. It’s easy to walk downtown, but the inn is still on a quiet side road. They’ve always been accommodating with our kids, who were 2 and 4 during our first visit several years ago. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Freeport.

Bill and MaryAnn made our wedding-present stay especially memorable. MaryAnn was a gracious host, and Bill cooked breakfast each morning and took care to meet our dietary needs. We stayed in the Green Room and loved its hot tub. The place felt cozy and comfortable, like home. It’s a great location, a short walk from Freeport’s Main Street, with lots of outlets and the biggest L.L.Bean I’ve ever seen. Nearby, we tried Linda Bean’s restaurant, and I recommend the blueberry BBQ wings and lobster rangoon dip. Portland is about a 20-minute drive away, so we also caught a Sea Dogs game and had lobster rolls and tacos at The Porthole. I know I’ll return again and again. I’d give it more than five stars if I could.

After many years away, we returned to The James Place and had a memorable visit. Bill and Mary Ann Hinko are wonderful innkeepers, and our room was excellent. Breakfast each day was delicious, especially the homemade granola, scones, and special house coffee. We highly recommend The James Place.

Bill and Mary Anne were such good hosts, and their inn is beautiful, clean, and well cared for. I had three and a half cups of the excellent coffee, and the waffles at breakfast were incredible. The bed was so comfortable I slept for nine hours. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
