Kelly really came through for us when we had nowhere to go. At nearly 11pm, we evacuated our hotel on the Homer spit because of a tsunami warning, with our four young kids. My wife called while we were driving up the evacuation route and found a place at cottonwood cabins. Kelly had an airstream RV free and gave us an extra floor mat so our group of seven could sleep. She also had good suggestions for local food. The room was clean and well appointed, with a full bathroom only a few steps away. The kids liked seeing the chickens, and the stay gave us a bit of a window into real Alaskan life. The treehouse looked like it would be neat, but it wasn't available.

Everything else was great: enough space, nice lighting, a little kitchen, and good furniture. It's a nice house up in a tree, and you can tell the person who built it loved woodworking. My only gripe was that the bathroom was practically separate from the unit, which was inconvenient for a middle-of-the-night trip.

Fresh blueberry muffins were waiting for us when we arrived, and they were delicious. The bed was super comfortable, and being tucked away in a greenhouse was awesome. Such a cute, quiet place, with really friendly hosts. We loved staying here and would absolutely recommend it.

The only good thing was that they provided firewood, though it was left uncovered on the ground and took hours to get burning. We used a torch, fire starters, and lighter fluid to help the other campers get theirs going. I've lived in Alaska for 20 years and stayed at hundreds of campsites and motels, and this was the worst by far. We booked the teepee tent for the weekend, but its thin sleeping mat was soaked, as if it had leaked or been left with the door open. The other mat was an old cushion from their 70s Winnebago, and the tent had a whole family of huge carpenter ants. Just after we arrived and set up, they put another campsite 10 feet away within minutes, apparently to make a buck. None of the eight of us across the three sites were impressed. Our site, the new one, and the camper all shared an outhouse, so the other campers kept apologizing for having to walk through our site to get there. The camping pads were pit run rocks thrown onto soft soil and driven over with a truck, and our tent floor felt like the ocean. There's a chicken coop across the driveway, close enough that the roosters and mating calls at 4am sounded like they were in the tent. A busy road is a stone's throw away, so all we heard apart from the chickens was traffic. We spent one night in our vehicle and left the next day. We ate the $55 for that night because they don't refund, then spent $300 on a motel just to get out of there. When we told the owner what was wrong, all they said was sorry. A -10 on a 0-10 scale.

The listing on booking.com described the place accurately. It's a mix of different kinds of accommodation, and we stayed in a cabin inside a greenhouse, which was handy when it rained. There was no shelter on the walk to the outhouse or shower room, though. The cabin had good space, but the bed sagged in the middle.
