The owners have dogs, and they clearly mention that on the website, so be prepared if dogs aren’t your thing. They’re lovely standard poodles, though, and you should love them. The owners are friendly, the rooms are nice, the water pressure is spectacular, and breakfast is great.

Phil and Sandy made our weekend away from DC especially nice. Lackawanna has lots of history and makes for a lovely place to explore, celebrate, or simply get away, with the classic B&B feel. Breakfast is included and freshly made, there’s local wine on the house, and the eclectic VHS/DVD collection is a must-see.

The owners couldn’t do enough for us, and we had a very comfortable room. The property is peaceful and historic, with the interior renovated to a very high standard. There’s a lovely veranda with rocking chairs for relaxing, and breakfast was a nice home-cooked meal.

I had to cancel a room I’d reserved online and emailed the innkeepers well within the seven-day cancellation period. I even sent them a copy of my cancellation email, but they still charged the full room rate. They said they wouldn’t refund me because they hadn’t opened that email. That decision feels extremely unfair. I wouldn’t do business with this B&B if there’s any chance you may need to cancel.

The house feels warm and inviting, and Phil and Sandy were gracious hosts who also made an excellent breakfast. I only wish my schedule had let us stay longer.
