1 Mi to Main St Fryeburg: Historic Family Home

That kitchen map with pins from guests all over the world was a fun touch. We only stayed one night in the Serengeti room, and check-in was easy. The room was fine, and there’s a small porch where you can sit and unwind. Breakfast was the highlight, both the food and chatting with the friendly owners and other guests. The B&B is outside the center of the White Mountains activity, but in summer many things to do there are under an hour away. Apparently they’ve welcomed guests from all seven continents.

There are plenty of forest walks around, and Fryeburg has a few good places to eat plus an excellent coffee shop. We spent three nights at Admiral Peary Inn, where Cheryl was very accommodating and made generous, delicious breakfasts each morning. The house is lovely, with lots of places to lounge, read, play games, or just relax. Definitely worth adding to your list.

The mosquitoes were the one real nuisance, but we were happy to overlook the bites. Our two nights in the third-floor English Garden Room were great, and the tasty breakfast had enough seating if you wanted some space to yourself. There are lots of games in the shared area, and I enjoyed reading about Admiral Peary's adventures. The whole Inn had the cozy, eclectic B&B atmosphere we wanted.

That backyard fire pit was such a nice way to wrap up the day, and we can't wait to come back. My wife and I are big history fans, so learning about the Admiral was a treat, and we were amazed by the library on the way to our room. We stayed in the comfortable Konstanz room with its German decor. Breakfast was delicious, especially the French toast, and the innkeeper was friendly. We had a great conversation with her. One night we walked to dinner at Fryeburg Kitchen & Market, then got a beer at the brewery next door. We also biked the Fryeburg Rail Trail, conveniently just down the street.
