What began as a temporary visit at the Fulton / Maple Lawn Residence Inn became six months of feeling at home. From the start, the whole staff made us feel welcome, safe, and cared for. Cesi in housekeeping was especially kind and warm, and her smile and pride in her work meant a lot. Meredith was thoughtful and helpful, keeping things running smoothly, while Naysa and Fran at the front desk were patient, friendly bright spots in our days. To everyone whose name we haven’t mentioned, you helped make the place special too. The town felt safe and fun, with great restaurants and places to walk. Buddy loved it there as well, and we all miss it more than we expected. We’re grateful for the care, memories, and friendships, and hope we can return someday.

We spent 10 days here on a business trip. It was an average stay, and I wouldn’t choose it over other hotels in the area. The staff were generally polite, the location and hotel were quiet, and the living space was roomy and not especially run down. The kitchen had what we needed to cook, the TVs were decent, and a grocery store just a few hundred feet away made the kitchen handy. But the dishwasher smelled like nobody knew it had a filter, let alone changed it. The bathroom had no working vent, so odors filled the bedroom. Some tile grout was missing, towel bars were barely attached, the shower head couldn’t switch settings, and water pressure was poor. The bed was one of the hardest I’ve slept on in a hotel, and its mattress topper was pathetic. The furniture was extremely uncomfortable. Staff seemed polite but mostly unfamiliar with Marriott Bonvoy and related matters. The fitness center and pool were decent, but upkeep was lacking. The gym clock had a dead battery throughout all 10 days, the machine TVs didn’t work, and the pool room looked neglected despite the water being a good temperature and pH. Some metal fixtures were rusty, quite badly in places for a Marriott property. Management and corporate don’t seem interested in maintaining Marriott standards, so cheaper IHG options may be worth considering.

Update: I’ve never encountered such condescending behavior at a Marriott before today. At 11:20, the GM knocked and asked if I knew checkout was at 11. I said I hadn’t realized and would get ready. He then asked how long it would take me to gather my things. The maintenance worker had just left after fixing the water and dishwasher, and nobody had called the room or offered extra time to get dressed and pack. Five minutes later, housekeeping knocked, with him asking the same thing. I’ve been a member for years. The front desk clerk was rude too. People in this line of work need empathy training. You don’t know what someone is dealing with or why they’re staying, and there was no apology or acknowledgment when I reported what happened downstairs. I wonder if it was retaliation for the review I had left that morning while still in the room. My stay itself had been nice, and the room was very clean, though the broken garbage disposal left water sitting in the sink until it slowly drained. The cleaning and breakfast staff were wonderful and deserve praise, but I can’t say the same for the front desk clerks.

I needed a temporary place to stay and really liked this extended stay hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the service was outstanding. My son especially enjoyed the fitness center. I know the Laurel area already, and the location is great: somewhat tucked away, but near lots of places to eat, a Harris Teeter, and major commuter routes. My one wish is that it had a proper business center. I highly recommend it.

Everything was great, from the beautifully clean rooms to the pleasant, efficient front desk staff. I highly recommend this hotel.
