Budget Inn Gadsden

They let me rent a room that wasn't in my name, which shouldn't have happened, then repeatedly opened the door while I was staying there. The room was never registered to me, and although we had a verbal agreement, they shouldn't have said I was there. I lived there for a long time, but they treated me and other guests rudely and often wouldn't even come to the office to help, even though extended-stay guests are still paying guests. They take extra money from people, including someone caught on camera going into another guest's room and stealing, but still let that person stay. They also buy stolen items in exchange for a room or cash. They cut corners to save money, fixing only what people can see outside without doing the work properly. Most of the time, they don't wash the covers. If they think you didn't sleep under one, they may leave it unwashed too. They can be lazy and act like they're better than everyone else. They ban people for no reason and seem willing to call police over anything, except when it's someone who actually needs to be reported. Don't let them find out you have warrants, because they might call the police just to keep your money and rent the room out again.

I stayed three nights. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the shower adequate. The woman who runs the place was extremely nice and accommodating, and I could check in before 3 pm. It cost $70 a night. Most of the clientele seem to live there. I didn't feel unsafe, though I carry a gun. Everyone I met was nice and nonthreatening. No bed bugs or roaches, and no complaints. I'd stay again if I needed to.

For a cheap stay, it was decent in some ways. Everyone was nice, including the woman at the front desk, and a few other guests said hi and chatted with me. It was quiet, even though I was up late playing music, and the fridge was immaculate. The microwave and towels were clean too, apart from the floor towel, which is no big deal. The bedspread had cigarette burn holes, but it was a nonsmoking room and that didn't bother me. I also avoided messing with the TV because only one bolt was holding it up. The room was cheap, and it showed. I saw a cockroach almost as soon as I got in, though it was the only one I saw all night. The walls were dirty, and the sink hadn't been cleaned. There was still hair around the ice bucket from the previous guest, so I cleaned it myself. The hot water also started going cold during my shower after maybe 10 minutes. The rooms are cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Everything worked fine and there were plenty of towels. The room was clean, though a little run down and nothing special.
