AC Hotel by Marriott Gainesville Downtown

The rooms are lovely, with a luxury-looking bathroom and a really comfortable bed, and the downtown Gainesville location is great. UF's stadium and arena are both under a mile away on foot. A couple of things could be better: valet parking is $42, with no self-parking, and the ice machine on floor 8 was broken. Also, after Friday's game, the ESPN crew came to the bar wanting food around 9:30, but the kitchen had stopped serving at 9, even though it was the weekend. They left and went somewhere else, so the hotel missed out on a lot of business.

The staff were fantastic and really friendly, but I wouldn't recommend this Marriott. The room felt sterile, the lighting was harshly white, almost like a lab, and the AC blew right on me all night. There are too many other good hotels in the area.

It's an easy walk across the street to campus, and the room was very clean. The staff were friendly too. At night, though, the rooms were noisy: I could hear the elevator ding and people talking down the hallway. The sliding bathroom door also felt a bit short on privacy and was finicky to close all the way.

A nice hotel and one of Gainesville's best, with a luxury feel for a reasonable price. The location is great too, about a twelve minute walk to O'Connell center. My one gripe: no NBC, so I had to cross the street to watch SNF.
