Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Gainesville by IHG

The beds are comfortable, though they sit too high. There's no hand soap, only bottles mounted on the wall, which I didn't like. The bathroom and carpet show wear, and the hotel is right by I-35. They also didn't provide complimentary water at check-in.

The beds were comfortable and breakfast was wonderful. I liked the shower soap, but it seemed someone had put soap where the conditioner should have been, so I had to shampoo my hair three times. That's the only real downside. The room was very humid when I arrived and stayed that way overnight. It was an okay stay.

The room was spacious, with a separate bedroom and living room, and we liked how cold and clean it was. Breakfast was average for a Holiday Inn Express, served in an open, roomy dining area. I also liked the Costa bean-to-coffee machines. We were here for 3 nights, and the location worked for our plans. It seemed like the best option nearby, though compared with other Holiday Inn Express hotels we've stayed at, this one was in our bottom 20%. There were several annoyances: the hallways were hot, a damp patch about 4 square feet sat on the carpet beside the bed, and the bathroom faucet ran very slowly. The light in the bathroom mirror flickered constantly. We didn't trust the loose outlets built into the bedside lamps, and there was just one remote for the two TVs.

The water smelled bad, the room's air conditioning didn't work, and the hotel itself smelled too. I'd definitely avoid it and find somewhere else nearby.
