Wyndham Garden Gainesville

Stayed on 31 July 2023. The office had a printed paper sign, and the office hours were only 4-6pm. Even during those hours, it took 30 minutes each time to find someone to check me in and later help me leave. I should have taken those as warning signs and read all the negative reviews before booking. They were accurate. I stayed one night and coughed the whole time because there was a huge amount of BLACK MOLD in the room. I left the next day, told the front office I wouldn’t stay another minute and was told I’d get a refund. Five days later, they denied it. The whole place felt like a cesspool of mold rotting from the inside out, and it isn’t worth risking your family’s health to save $15 in Gainesville. The hotel should NOT be in business. My pictures showed black mold in the AC unit spewing spores through the room, algae or mold on a patio covered in inches of water, rust on the bedside lamps from all the moisture, black mold along the entire inside door frame seam, and a BLOOD stain on the curtains, yes, blood.

My husband took a shower, and there was still a foot of water sitting there the next morning. We didn’t have a washcloth or hairdryer either. The floor was sticky, and wiping it with a hand towel left the towel completely black. I’ve never stayed anywhere as filthy as this. We were in town for drag races for one night and told management about the problems, but got no response. I’d encourage you not to EVER stay here!

The employees were nice and seemed to try to satisfy guests as best they could. Breakfast was alright, typical hotel food. The room itself was okay, and the bathroom was decent with a good mirror. The sink water smelled odd, though it worked normally. The walls are thin enough that you can hear even a whisper at any time. The vending machines were way overpriced. We bought two drinks and were surprised they cost $6.50 each, $13.00 total for a Coke and a Sprite.

Our room was a pleasant surprise: it was very big, at the end of the hall, and very clean. We’d stay again. The place is being remodeled, so there were a few inconveniences, like the lobby being moved into rooms, which I assume is temporary. The room could use more lighting, especially given its size, and I’d add another mirror outside the bathroom. We see this as a process that takes time.
