The small fitness room is functional, with cardio gear and free weights. There’s also a little sundry area for snacks and drinks and a very basic free breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance of Rio, which is handy for food and entertainment. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the place is a simple, fairly priced option if you want a clean stay without extras. The rooms are small, shower pressure is weak, and there weren’t enough towel bars or hooks. Noise from the nearby major roads may bother light sleepers. Parking is another frustration: they charge for it now, though that wasn’t the case before and free parking is plentiful around there. It feels like an unnecessary price gouge. Decent for a short visit near Rio, as long as you know about the added fee and keep expectations in check.

I found the location a real plus. Close to the Rio Lakefront, with easy access to eateries, shops and attractive walking trails, it works well for either work or a leisure trip. SpringHill Suites by Marriott Gaithersburg gave me a wonderful stay, and I hope to come back on my next visit. The suite was spacious, tidy and thoughtfully laid out, with a separate sitting area, cozy bed and neat work space. There was a microwave, mini fridge and good quality toiletries, and housekeeping kept the room fresh and immaculate. Breakfast was one of the best parts: tasty hot and cold choices, fresh food, and a clean, well run dining area. From arrival, the staff were welcoming and eager to help. Check in was quick and easy, and the front desk took care of the details. Their professional and sincere manner made me feel at home. SpringHill Suites by Marriott Gaithersburg, at 9715 Washingtonian Blvd., stands out among Gaithersburg lodging for its comfort, convenience and friendly service. I’d definitely suggest it to anyone visiting Gaithersburg or nearby.

Breakfast was basic, and king rooms on the highway side can be noisy at night. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Restaurants, Target and shops are an easy walk away.

I was in town to visit a family member who had recently been hospitalized, so the loud room and confusing check in added stress I didn’t need. I was on the fifth floor, and the room sounded like it was right in the middle of I-270. Tractor trailers and diesel engines echoed off the walls all night. I’d prepaid, but check in took almost an hour because of a third party booking issue that wasn’t my fault. The front desk manager kept me waiting in the lobby until it was resolved. If the cancellation policy hadn’t already charged me in full, I would honestly have left to find another hotel. I learned my lesson. There are much better and more comfortable options in Gaithersburg. I won’t be back, and I hope this saves someone else the hassle.
