A lovely place with lots of fun things to do. There are summer activities and things to do in the snow, plus a beautiful restaurant where you can enjoy a meal with great views of the Mississippi. If you're nearby, it's worth checking out, even just for a bite to eat and the scenery.

Chestnut Mountain is a fun place for winter skiing, with a lively feel on the slopes and in the bar. It's not a big or especially bad mountain, and it's nearby. There's some steeper terrain, but it's best for people who like doing laps on groomed runs and don't want to drive eight hours to find better snow. It feels a bit posh compared with ski resorts farther north around Indy, so expect to spend a little more. This season the vibe was upbeat, and the sunny, cold days kept the runs fast. Everyone seemed to be having a good time.

Donna made check-in such a nice experience. She was sweet, accommodating, and clearly enjoys her work, which comes through in her smile. She also knew the area well and warned us that deer come out late at night, so we should be careful driving into town. She's just the best. I had an amazing stay!

The kids are growing so fast that I rent their ski gear, and the employee who fitted our skis could have been friendlier. My wife and I also waited more than ten minutes for a drink at the bar, despite there being only about eight people there. We had to ask the bartender ourselves. They could use some customer service training. Still, the kids and I really enjoy skiing here, with good beginner runs and decent intermediate ones.

We signed our four-year-old up for her first ski lesson, and the staff treated her like one of their own. They were patient, kind, and made it fun. Then there was hot chocolate afterward. Highly recommend for first-time skiers!
