Goldmoor Inn

The view from Goldmoor Inn over the Mississippi River was stunning, and the whole property felt almost like a painting. We were welcomed warmly and felt genuinely looked after. Our suite was spotless and comfortable, with a fireplace, a spacious whirlpool tub, soft bedding, and thoughtful details throughout. Breakfast brought to the room was fresh, delicious, and beautifully arranged. The staff checked in enough to help while still respecting our privacy. Goldmoor Inn made our Galena trip feel extraordinary, whether for a celebration or a quiet escape. We can't wait to come back.

The room and its amenities were nice, but at that price I expected better service and a better room. Ours was so hot that turning off the heat in mid-January made no difference. When we called, we were told to open a window, even though it was winter. The temperature never dropped below 77 degrees, and it didn't feel like anyone took the problem seriously.

This was our second visit to the inn, this time to mark a year since our engagement. We love the rooms and their breathtaking views, and the breakfast has never disappointed us. Dinner was the low point: our waitress, who we later found out had served us, questioned us as we came out of our room, and we felt let down by the wait staff. The owner came out later, took charge, and resolved the issue with management. We still recommend the place for a great getaway and plan to return after our summer wedding for a mini honeymoon.

The in-room breakfast is always delicious, and we prefer the English Cottage, though the other cottages are beautiful too. We've been coming to the Goldmoor nearly every year for our anniversary for the past 10 years, and it never disappoints. It's a great escape where I can properly unwind from my high-stress job.
