Grant Hills Motel

Past stays here, including one two years ago, were always good, but this visit wasn't. The room was clean, but cold, with no way to adjust the heat. All night there was a loud thump behind the wall, like pipes or something. Then the hot water turned completely cold after about an 8 min shower. The price is good, but this wasn't a good experience, so we'll try somewhere else next time.

It's an easy place to reach from the highway, with lovely nearby views and just a short drive to downtown Galena. We found the other guests friendly, and it's pet-friendly too. Staff were easy to reach by phone and friendly and accommodating in person. When the TV gave us a little trouble, an employee came over quickly to fix it. The office's early opening and late closing hours were handy, and there's an outdoor pool.

This was the most welcoming, homey motel I stayed at on my cross-country road trip. It's quite close to town, and the people working there were good to deal with.

I've stayed here regularly for work over the past year. The property changed ownership last year, and the new owner has already renovated a lot, updating the rooms and features. I like the improvements, and there are more planned soon. The staff and property managers are polite and respectful. With all the work they've done, this motel is a hidden gem in Galena.
