Stoney Creek Inn Galena

Easy to reach from the main highway, and Main Street is only about a five-minute drive away. The place was clean and comfortable with a northwoodsy feel, and the receptionist was attentive. There’s a bar and a nice hot tub. Breakfast did the job, though it wasn’t anything special.

We often stay at this kind of inn for family visits and short breaks, and Stoney Creek places have been a notch or two above average in our experience. This one was clean and well looked after, with a nice exercise room and pool area, especially the hot tub. We also liked the lounge for watching the Packer game. The hosts were welcoming and shared restaurant suggestions, and check-in was quick and friendly even though we had no reservation. They accepted AAA or AARP discounts. Breakfast was better than average, with plenty of hot and cold options, and I loved seeing a pancake machine. We visited in early November for some rest and shopping in Galena.

The building is beautifully designed, and my room was one of the coolest and cleanest I’ve stayed in. I had fun looking over all the decor. The pool and hot tub area was great, with lots of toys and floats, and there was a well-stocked pantry open around the clock plus a nice breakfast space. I was only passing through and stayed one weekday night a couple of weeks ago. Someone came right out to help before I’d even finished photographing the giant front desk bell. Everyone was super friendly. Hope to come back soon!

We had a great couple of nights here with our family. It’s a cozy, family-friendly place with a great pool, and the breakfast was good too. For the price, it’s well worth it, and we’ll stay again. My only small complaint is that the beds could be a bit more comfortable, but the good parts outweighed that.
