Travelodge by Wyndham Gallipolis

It’s a good value for a night when you’re looking for somewhere cheap. The rooms are clean and nice, and they’ve accommodated me whenever I’ve needed an early check-in or late checkout. The bathrooms could be better, though that seems to be a cleaning issue.

My uncle and his family ended up having to leave before morning after the front desk lady threatened to call the police. My dad was the one trying to comply, and didn’t want to turn it into a bigger fight, but the lady kept arguing as they left. The whole thing was awful, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. In my opinion, she should be fired for how unprofessional she was. They say they don’t allow animals, yet they still do, so they need to get the hotel in order. This had just happened yesterday. My uncle called because he needed to stay one more night and had nowhere else to go. He wanted to pay with my dad’s credit card, but the woman didn’t understand that it was my dad’s card and said he had to come in person. My dad agreed without being rude, even though he’s very sick with diabetes and stress affects his mental health. I went with him, my uncle, and the family to the hotel. Dad parked near the front window, got out to pay, then stood around the corner waiting for my uncle. I was in the truck and watched the desk lady come outside and confront him, asking why he was there. He hadn’t done anything, just stood waiting. When my uncle and his wife arrived to renew the room, Dad was willing to pay. His wife asked if they were being overcharged, and said the desk woman kept adding fees. When she asked questions, the woman got defensive and made excuses. I felt she had something against my uncle because he’s Mexican and his English isn’t very good. That doesn’t make it okay to take advantage of people. My dad has worked in stores and still treats people professionally. We’re all human and have feelings, and I don’t think this was right.

They charge over $200 a night for a room in the middle of nowhere. There were stains on the towels and blankets, and kids ran through the hallways screaming. The cleaner leaves complaint notes if you don’t tip her, and tosses sheets across the hallway floor while she works, so you have to step over them. Don’t bother saying hi, she’ll just stare at you.

The room and bathroom were clean, and I got a really relaxing shower before bed. I arrived late, so that was just what I needed. The lobby was clean and smelled amazing, and the woman at the desk was super friendly when I walked in. I slept comfortably, checkout was easy, and I’ll stay here again!
