Rodeway Inn Parkway

I should've read the reviews before booking. I was desperate to find somewhere close enough to the beach, but all of us, two grown adults and a young adult, would rather have stayed in the car with my son and younger brother in a Walmart parking lot. It was that bad. The rugs felt sticky and looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, maybe months, so we kept our shoes on. The bathroom was disgusting, with what looked like mold around the tub and holes in the walls. The doors and trim looked like a mechanic had rubbed greasy hands all over them. The microwave and refrigerator were so bad I'd never use them. The fridge might not even have worked. When I opened it, it smelled awful and was full of water. We stayed two nights, and they didn't clean in between, change the sheets, or replace our towels and soap. It was the worst stay of my life. I would've walked out, but I didn't know if they'd still charge me for the rooms. This hotel/motel should be removed from the Choice Hotel chains. Please take it from me, it was horrible. Don't stay here.

For $80, I expected a lot better. The carpet was dirty, the sheets were in bad shape, and the restroom smelled bad with lights that didn’t work. This is the worst motel I’ve ever seen.

I was glad this was only one night. There was no heat on the upper floor where Room 20 was, so I had to go warm up at the casino. The shower curtain had mold, and there was hair all over the pillows and blanket. I’d bring your own bedding and a space heater, and wash anything you bring into the room in case bedbugs came along with you. For $62 a night, this wasn’t worth it. Like some white folks used to say, “You get what you pay for.”

I booked through Choice Hotels, but when I got there the parking lot had lots of people loitering, and the room’s broken furniture made me nervous. I felt unsafe and asked for a refund. Management said it had been issued, but nothing ever showed up on my card. Beware, this felt like a rip-off.
