The ocean view from our room was gorgeous, though the room itself was a little small, as expected. Parking was a bit tight without valet: some spaces were on the street and others behind the hotel, with a garage next door for anyone willing to walk a little. In the evening, the lobby bar got busy and it could be hard to find a seat, even though the service was excellent. We enjoyed a couple of the specials, and one night there was a piano man. Coffee from the lobby each morning came with excellent service too. We saw this beautiful pink historic hotel on our last Galveston trip and decided to budget for a stay this year. I'm glad we did. The tapestry throughout and the whole place felt like stepping back in time. A once-in-a-lifetime experience. Blessings to all the staff and guests for 2026.

The hotel grounds were well kept, and the beach, shops, and restaurants were all close by. The front desk staff made us feel welcome, and I liked the decorations. Our room was a little small but had enough space for our family of four. It was extra cold when we arrived, which I enjoyed. My family will definitely return to Galvez.

We stopped in for drinks on 1/17/2026, so I can't say anything about the rooms. We walked through the lobby to see the Queen of The Gulf, and she is beautiful. Built in 1911 and beautifully remodeled over the years, the place is full of thoughtful details. The lobby smelled lovely, and the decor was phenomenal: large chandeliers in the halls and bar, a mosaic tiled entrance, grand stairs to the rooms, a bougie gift shop, and The Monarch restaurant. The front lawn entrance has exquisite tropical landscaping and a gorgeous fountain. Valet parking is available. The martinis cost $29 each before gratuity, but I think it was the best martini I've ever had. We'll be back to stay in a room next time. This is only a bar review, but I can't imagine the rooms don't carry the same beauty and service. Gorgeous!

Christmas is especially magical here. The lobby's rich red decor and bell chandeliers, along with the seasonal decorations, create a warm, elegant feeling. I keep returning to Grand Galvez because it's beautiful and full of history and charm, and the renovations are spectacular. The staff are consistently friendly, welcoming, attentive, and go above and beyond. I enjoy the restaurant food, though my own experience in the restaurant world has left me with high culinary standards, and I'm used to cuisine at a slightly higher level. That doesn't take away from an experience I truly enjoy.

The restored rooms were elegant, spacious, well kept, and had just the right views. The hotel was redone to bring back much of its old charm and nostalgia, while preserving its historical character. Its holiday decorations felt fitting for the season. I stayed for a weekend in November 2025, right after Thanksgiving, and was impressed by the service. I also ate at the on-site restaurant. It's an Autograph property managed and maintained by Marriott, within walking distance of Galveston's attractions and the beach. The beach was closed because of the weather during my visit, but in summer the hotel arranges chairs and other things for the beach across the main road. Parking is valet, with street parking if you're lucky. I'd gladly stay again for a weekend getaway. I heard some period movies and films are shot here to evoke Galveston's golden age.
