The house itself is spacious and well equipped, with seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a private pool, a large parking area, two grills, and a separate outbuilding. But several things affected our stay at Cedar Point Retreat, hosted by Heather. We didn’t know from the listing that the host would be on-site all five days. Her office is on the property, and having her there made us feel short on privacy. Guests should be told this clearly on the Airbnb listing so they can decide before booking. The couch smelled strongly of cat urine, even though we didn’t bring a cat and saw no signs of one at the property. The sheets kept slipping off the mattresses, which made sleeping difficult, and there were no mattress covers, raising hygiene concerns. After we left, we were charged $650 for alleged damage, including a mattress stain and a torn quilt. We strongly dispute both claims. Our dog was crated in a different room, and no evidence was given to support the charge. Both disputed items were attributed to the dog. The photo showed a ripped quilt, but if a dog had done it, it wouldn’t have looked like that. The hole looked like the kind you get from washing a quilt too many times. The people near the alleged damage used their own blankets and slept on top of the covers. The property is nice and has plenty of equipment, but the lack of disclosure, cleanliness problems, and the way the after-stay charges were handled had a major impact on our experience.

We were in town to get married up the road, and stayed in the cottage the night before traveling for our honeymoon. It was cozy, relaxing, and nicely designed. Heather and Chris were wonderful hosts. Heather remembered we’d mentioned our wedding night and left a thoughtful gift in the room, which made the stay even more special. Breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed our mimosas the next morning. We’ll definitely come back.

My husband and I had a great anniversary getaway in one of these newly built cottages. It’s small, but has everything you need, including a full kitchen. The electric fireplace made it feel cozy and relaxing. There’s a hot tub to use, too. It was too cold for us to try the pool, but I imagine it would be a lovely extra in summer.

Chris and Heather gave us a wonderful stay at Cedar Point House. Check-in and checkout were easy, and everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. The suite is small but works well for a couple, with an en-suite bathroom that has a hotel-style double shower for easy access. Towels and washcloths were provided. The layout and furnishings were great, and the pool was just what we needed to relax. Breakfast was lovely: eggs, pancakes, grits, bacon, sausage, hot coffee, cold brew, orange juice, and fresh lemon water.

We took a chance on booking three nights at Cedar Point House since we didn’t know the place well, and they really came through for our 35th anniversary. From arrival to departure, we felt like old friends or family, and everything was arranged to make for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was great each morning, and the pool area was nicely decorated and comfortable. It’s close to everything Murrells has to offer, but the getaway itself was quiet. The stay was much better than we expected. We’ve found our regular place for visits to Murrells Inlet and would highly recommend Cedar Point House to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable escape.
