Super 8 by Wyndham Gardiner/Yellowstone Park Area

Chris at the front desk has terrific work ethic and customer service. He was helpful and knew a lot about just about anything we wanted to ask. Our room was spotless, and the coffee they make is really good. Keep an eye out when you step into the parking lot in the morning, you might spot one, two, or even three elk. The hotel is within walking distance of Yellowstone and right across from a market, gas station, and church.

For the price, this is probably the best and cleanest deal in town. The rooms were clean and fine, and it’s an inexpensive place to sleep while touring Yellowstone. There’s a good market right across the street. Getting to town means a short drive or a long walk across the bridge.

Seniors should avoid staying here. They don’t honor reservations for first-floor rooms, and there’s no elevator, so you have to carry your own luggage up the stairs. Manager Raj Patel didn’t respect my reservation. Wyndham doesn’t seem to care about how Super 8 treats senior citizens. Avoid this location if you’re visiting Yellowstone.

The paper-thin walls were the biggest problem. I could hear neighbors sneeze and people walking above or below, and early one morning I was woken by the guests upstairs getting ready to leave. If I wanted a good night’s sleep, I wouldn’t choose this hotel again, since it depends on how quiet everyone else is. There was also a strange smell like animal urine in the hallway and rooms. I mentioned it, and they sprayed room freshener. The lobby and rooms are detached, so you have to go outside between them, which isn’t great in bad weather. They say they’re “green” and don’t provide trash can liners. I was told there’d be fruit and muffins in the morning, but there weren’t any, and the connected restaurant or cafe was closed during my stay. The front desk staff were friendly, and the only supermarket in town is right next door.
