Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Gatlinburg, TN

I've stayed here three times now and keep coming back. The front desk people are always nice, and both service and location get five stars from me. For the price, it's a great hotel and I really can't complain. The only reason I give the rooms four stars is that some of them feel humid and damp, more than others. I'd recommend it and stay again.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast had plenty of choices each day: eggs, bacon, biscuits, toast, waffles, muffins, and yogurt. Our room was clean and roomy, everything worked, and the beds were firm and very comfortable, with four nice pillows on each. It's close to Gatlinburg's main strip, and the walk was fairly easy, without steep hills, on well-kept sidewalks. A clean, inexpensive place to stay when visiting Gatlinburg.

We've stayed here a couple of times in the last two months, and the property is clean and well located. Parking is very limited, though. If you don't arrive early in the day, you'll need to leave your car in a lot on the next street over. The cleaning crew also woke us every morning. They talk and laugh loudly enough that you can hear them across the whole floor they're working on, as if nobody else is staying there.

We left after one night, and I'm still waiting for the promised refund for the second night. I even got a text today about checkout time, so apparently yesterday's desk worker never marked us as checked out or started the refund as she said she would. This was our second stay, and a poor one. When we booked that same week, we were told the indoor pool was open, working, and heated. Instead, the pool and its room were ice cold. Staff said they thought it had been fixed that morning and would follow up, but the next day the front desk knew nothing about it, so the night worker hadn't passed on our concerns. Later we were told the pool would stay cold because it was cold outside. We asked repeatedly for extra towels and blankets because our room was cold and got none. One bed had dirty sheets, the bathroom floor was dirty, the smoke detector was missing from the wall, and the heat worked only sometimes. Breakfast at 8 was cold and tasteless.
