We left before the end of our reservation and found a clean hotel in Pigeon Forge, where we finally got a much-needed break from the stress. We had fond memories of staying here for our honeymoon in 1995, and came back for summer vacation in 2012 with three teens, hoping for nostalgia and large rooms. Online reviews had worried us, but staff assured us by phone that the place had been fixed up. It hadn't. The hotel was a complete dump. At check-in, the employees were gathered in the lobby smoking. The room was disgusting: permanently screwed-shut appliances, filthy carpet, torn blinds, and dirt everywhere, including the jacuzzi tub. A wide gap in the ceiling above the headboard ran the whole width of the room. Light came through from the next room, and we could hear their conversations clearly. The nearly empty hotel could have spaced guests farther apart. Then someone called our room phone, knew my name, and said they needed to verify my credit card number because their computers were down. I recognized it as a scam and hung up. The caller tried again, and I hung up again. I spoke with Susan at the front desk, who said she knew nothing about it and that people could call rooms directly without going through the desk. I should have filed a police report, but didn't. Avoid this place. It seems like a train wreck that will never get cleaned up.
