White Springs Manor a Belhurst Property

The Playhouse worked well for our family getaway with our two adult kids. We could be loud during game night, long conversations, and all our silly antics without worrying about disturbing anyone, then it was wonderfully quiet when it was time to sleep. There was a bit of an old-building smell, but it didn't bother anyone's allergies.

The place has a lot of charm, even if its age is showing, and we chose it for an anniversary night away. The problem came when we called the Bell Hurst front desk about an alarm beeping in the building. They make it clear there's no staff at the manor, but Kristen told me maintenance wouldn't come until the next day. I asked whether we could move to another accommodation so we could get a peaceful, child-free night of sleep. Kristen said, verbatim, that she had more important issues to deal with and couldn't help me then. My husband ended up finding the alarm and unplugging it himself. For such a beautiful place, the lack of customer service was truly alarming.

We expected the location, and at first our group of four admired the building's historic charm. Then the condition of the property became hard to ignore. The gap between the website pictures and what we found in person was striking. There were spiderwebs all around our room's windows, and heaps of bird droppings covered the lake-facing porch and its chairs, so we couldn't use the outdoor space. The landscaping looked neglected, with weeds and overgrown shrubs and no real effort to welcome guests, perhaps throughout 2025. At Belhurst, we had an on-time reservation at Edgars, but waited nearly two hours for our entrees because the kitchen and servers were badly understaffed. The staff were friendly and trying their best, but no manager was visible to help or direct them. The bar service after dinner was similar. We were so disappointed that we cancelled our second night and won't return to a Belhurst property.

We were in the playhouse, which isn't on the lake, and there was no WiFi. The musty, moldy odor hit as soon as we came in. Later, while I was brushing my teeth, I saw a bug cross the floor. The tub drained so slowly that showering felt almost like taking a bath. Its trim had water damage, as did the trim around the jacuzzi. The furnishings and curtains felt poorly kept as well as dated. There was no staff on site, so you need to call or go to Belhurst, a couple of miles away. Ice is available in the Manor, but not the house.
