Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Georgetown Lake

The mountain view from our clean, modern room was spectacular, and the blackout curtains let us sleep undisturbed until 11. It was quiet, too, even though there was construction partly blocking the lake. We didn't hear the workers, and the firm, clean beds and pillows made for a restful stay. The service stood out: they even called me back to check whether I meant to throw away a small cooler. The lake may be more visible in summer. Some of the negative feedback seems like nitpicking to me.

We chose this place for a one-night family stop because it welcomed pets and the online lake views looked beautiful. The pool and hot tub were great for giving the kids a chance to burn off energy while we traveled. But extra fees added at arrival pushed the price well beyond what we wanted to pay, and our room looked out at a newly built distillery instead of the lake. The evening staff seemed more lively and helpful. At checkout, the morning staff made me feel like I was interrupting a coworker conversation when I was asked, “What do you need?” instead of “How can I help you?” It wasn't a great stay, though it could work as an overnight stop if you have the money.

The room was expensive, small, and had a very limited breakfast with no hot food. I had specifically asked the booking agent for a third-floor room on the lake side, and they confirmed it. At arrival, the front desk said I'd been moved to the second floor but promised the view would be “amazing.” I trusted them, but there was no lake view at all, just an ugly plastic tent outside the window. I don't recommend it.

Shauna and Cheyanne made check-in easy and helped me get a great room. There were a few credit card snags, but they stayed patient and helpful while we sorted them out. The rates are good and the location is nice, making this a great place in any season for skiing, hiking, or travel. Looking forward to coming back!
