Fairfield Inn & Suites Memphis Germantown

The front desk staff were very nice, the best part of this place. But management and the owners were awful. Our family of five couldn’t keep asking someone to fix the tub after every shower, yet that was basically their answer when we complained that it kept filling up because it wouldn’t drain. The tub was also stained with grime. Management offered 5000 points, which felt like nothing, and showed no remorse. I asked to move rooms, but they were sold out. At $200 a night, this was unacceptable. One of the worst stays I’ve had at a Marriott, more like motel 6. Be aware.

The patio stayed loud with partying until 2 a.m., and people kept running through the hallways until 3. The manager had poor customer service and wouldn’t rein in the loud, obnoxious guests, so I had to contact the corporate 800 number to get satisfaction. On top of that, the room was dirty, the bed linens smelled as if they hadn’t been changed after the previous guest, and the refrigerator didn’t work. Poor management. Stay away.

The area felt nice and safe, but the hotel was a disappointment for its prominent location in Memphis. My room smelled musty and mildewy, the carpets were horrendous, and the cleaning was subpar. There were urine stains on the mattress, sticky nightstands that hadn’t been wiped, and awful bathtubs. The TVs didn’t work properly, and the door kept locking us out, so we had to keep tapping the key to get back in. Staff seemed to do the bare minimum cleaning rooms. The carpets need attention, especially after large groups come for basketball tournaments. Please bring the property up to the standard of the area. Audit the rooms, take inventory, and see what needs repair or improvement. Subpar service doesn’t cut it these days. I’m disappointed, and I took pictures as evidence, though I can’t upload them here.

I was uncomfortable for the whole stay, and when I wrote to the manager afterward, I got no reply. The heat never worked despite my trying to adjust the wall thermostat. Its bright blue light stayed on all night, and when I called to ask how to change it, nobody could help. The toilet also kept making a lot of noise long after flushing. Both noises kept me awake much of the night. At 11:30 p.m., the front desk offered to call maintenance, but I didn’t feel I had a good option and wasn’t going to do that then. One of my worst hotel stays in a long time.
