Gibson City Inn

I loved the old-school motel feel. It brought back good memories of family vacations when I was a kid. It’s in a good location and has been freshly painted. The furnishings are a mix of old and new, but everything was exceptionally clean. The proprietor was really nice, walked me to my room, and showed me how to use the TV and AC. Very nice guy.

Never again. The beds feel like sleeping on a metal table, the lights flicker the whole time, and the TV sucks. Just a bad place all around.

I called 45 minutes ago and was told there were rooms available, so I drove over. Then a rude old man told me no. The no vacancy sign wasn’t even lit, and the place looked run down. It’s also apartments.

The room was clean and comfortable, and better than I expected for the price. We’d stay again if we’re in town overnight. We hadn’t planned to spend the night after coming into town for a local RC car race, since we live only a few hours south. Once it was clear we needed a room, this was the closest hotel to where we were. We arrived after midnight with our three kids, and the gentleman was still very kind. He walked us to the room, made sure the kids were settled, showed us the remotes, and turned on the A/C. He stayed pleasant and understanding while going back to the office to finish the transaction. In the morning, he was there with a younger woman, maybe his daughter. She was so nice, chatted with the kids, and asked how they were. They were patient and understanding while we kept rearranging the vehicle before heading home.
