Fireside Inn & Suites Gilford

Elaine was a lovely, informative host. She even came to the indoor pool to ask my grandchildren if they wanted her to turn on the waterfall, which was so sweet. We stayed in room #108 and could bring our small dog, making the visit extra special. The grab-and-go breakfast was amazing, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking, too. A solid 10.

That nonstop humming in the room made it really hard to relax or get proper sleep. For more than $100 a night, I expect at least a quiet place to rest, but it felt like trying to sleep beside machinery. The hotel also seemed old and worn, and it was an unpleasant surprise to learn at check-in that there would be no maid service during our stay. The grab-and-go breakfast had a decent selection, probably the only positive I can point to. This place feels neglected and overpriced for what it offers.

The walls and hallways get loud when people gather there or leave doors open. Breakfast was packaged microwave sandwiches, Eggo waffles, cereal, and juice cups. There’s a bagel shop across the street with delicious breakfast choices. The pool and hot tub were clean and enjoyable, and the beds were excellent. It’s super convenient for skiing at Gunstock Mt.

The indoor pool was a real plus. My daughter gets cold easily, but she was comfortable swimming even in mid-October with chilly weather outside. I went down in my clothes to watch and found it comfortable to sit there, not sauna hot. There’s also a nice hot tub, and lifts make both accessible for people with mobility issues. Breakfast was great for a grab-and-go setup, with fresh coffee, toast options, packaged items to heat in your room, and L'eggo mini waffles that even my picky eater liked. Staff were friendly at check-in and when we had questions. We were there for an event at Beans & Greens Farm around the corner, and the room was clean and nicely arranged. With two beds, we had a desk and chair, two other chairs, and an ottoman, which was handy since we didn’t have to sit on the bed to eat. It also had a good-sized TV, microwave, mini fridge, and Keurig. We brought our small dog, and the pet-friendly room was on the first floor, with a slider straight to a grassy area. They left a dog-bone-shaped dish and a couple treats at check-in, and there were waste bags and a trash can outside. The room was very clean, with no sign or smell of previous pets. Our dog kept wanting to go out and sniff the grass. I’d stay here again and recommend it.
