Candlewood Suites Gillette by IHG

The only odd thing I noticed was that there wasn’t a toilet seat cover, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. We stayed one night in a room with two queen beds, and it was clean and very spacious, much like other Candlewood Suites I’ve stayed at. I didn’t notice much noise from outside. The staff responded quickly when we needed help with the unfamiliar shower diverter, which you pull down. The water pressure was strong and just how I like it. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

The shower was surprisingly spacious, but the rest of the hotel felt aggressively average. Service was okay, though the front desk girl seemed eager for me to leave so her boyfriend could come back and talk to her. The rooms were fine but dated, and the toilet didn’t even have a seat. They service rooms only every seven days, so they won’t make the bed or bring fresh towels; you have to handle that yourself. There’s no breakfast, though they’ll sell you things from the store. The A/C shuts off as soon as you leave, and the room warms up. At checkout, nobody was at the desk. I waited ten minutes, rang the bell, and called 0 as instructed. A maintenance guy walked by, shrugged, then said, “I’d check you out but I’m not allowed to touch those damn computers,” and got rude with me, though I wasn’t the one failing to do my job. The Fairfield in town is a better choice if you need a hotel.

The beds are so comfortable, the pillows are exceptional, and the bathroom has great water pressure. There’s a kitchen with all the utensils you need, a great TV, and a fridge that makes ice cubes. Free laundry and a workout room are handy too. The area is good and the place is easy to find. I’ve stayed at this Motel three times over the past two months, and the staff have always been kind, friendly, and helpful, ready to accommodate what we need. My sincere thanks to Savana and the whole staff for being there for me and my family during an extremely hard time. God must have sent us to you.

The bed was very comfortable, and the room came with useful kitchen gear: silverware, cookware, plates, a cutting board, and a measuring cup. It also had a two-burner stove, microwave, and full-size fridge with an ice maker. The one drawback was that the toilet had no lid. Guest laundry is free, though you need to bring your own detergent or buy it at the small lobby store. A load’s worth costs $2.00 there, but Walmart and Albertsons are nearby if you’re doing several loads or need groceries.
