We were exhausted and it was late, so we did our best to get through the night, though we barely slept. This was a complete disaster from check-in on. We’d paid extra for two queen beds, but were told they had no such room and accused of making up the reservation. After I showed the email confirmation, they offered one queen bed and refused any compensation for the difference, saying, “It is what it is.” They then gave us a second single room. Its door looked like it had been kicked in repeatedly, the shower leaked across the floor, there was only one dirty towel, and the room was filthy. I reported the mess in room 105 and got a shrug. Back in the offered original room, room 101, things were just as bad: nothing worked, it was dirty, the sheets were too small to cover the filthy mattress pad, and the bed was hard and springy. A bright light outside lit up the room all night, and the sink wobbled and was disconnected. The whole motel felt dysfunctional, with no sign of upkeep, repairs, cleanliness standards, or customer service. It seems like a business on its last legs, relying on false advertising to draw in tired travelers. I spent the night sort of laughing at the comedy of errors that is the Budget Motel. Even the Wi-Fi password, “I love this place!”, was a joke, since the Wi-Fi didn’t work.

Over my two weeks here, the price was the one real plus, along with the polite man at the front check-in window. The bathroom was tiny, the bed felt like a box of springs, and there was no coffee maker in the room. With no lobby, there wasn’t coffee anywhere on site. The nearest place to get some is a Mike up the road. There’s no ice machine either. The train tracks are so close it sounds like a train is coming right through the room. A regular tenant and management argued every morning. And I wouldn’t call the place safe. If I weren’t a guy who can handle myself, I wouldn’t stay here.

My coworker and I have been staying here for about three months, and it’s been a good experience. After a long workday, the accommodations are comfortable and the amenities make it a pleasant place to unwind. The manager has been especially helpful and easy to approach, making sure we have a room each week. That’s made things much easier, and we’ve built a positive relationship. We’re grateful for the hospitality and are glad to keep staying in this location.
