The Oaks Motel

This is my go-to motel whenever I come for vacation. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and the location is great for the price per night.

The guy working there got mad because we left trash in the room. We’d cleaned up and put everything in bags to make it easier for them. Cleaning the room is their job.

My main issue is that I can’t get in touch with the hotel. I may have left something behind, but the listed phone number seems disconnected. I stayed a week in August while vacationing in Monterey and just needed somewhere to sleep at the end of each day. The price brought me in, the staff were kind, and there’s a nice downtown strip with cafes and restaurants nearby. It’s an older property, but the rooms have the basics: TV, Wi-Fi, microwave, fridge, and beds that are fairly comfortable.

The price and staff were great, and the location was close to where I needed to be. Check-in was easy, and the staff were really kind. Restaurants were an easy walk, though Google gave us bad directions. The rooms need a lot of work. They feel bare, the beds were too uncomfortable for me to sleep well, and there’s sloppy paint. It didn’t look or feel clean. Basic things were broken, like the toilet paper holder, and there was nowhere in the bathroom to put even a toothbrush, just a toilet, shower, and sink basin. I’m 50/50 on staying again. It needs upgrades and remodeling.
