Rivertown Inn

The room at the Rivertown Inn was spotless, and the beds and sheets were really comfortable. We were in town for a wedding, and both the person who took our reservation by phone and the front desk staff were so helpful and friendly. I can't remember the front desk person's name, but their customer service made the stay stellar.

I stayed in room 115, and the mold smell was so strong I could hardly breathe. It gave me a rash all over my neck, burned my eyes, and left my throat sore. When I told the staff at checkout in the morning, all I got was “sorry.” I pointed out that the smell was obvious as soon as you walked into the room, but she just said she'd let someone know. They didn't offer a refund or discount. There's no way they could have been unaware of this earlier. Worst hotel experience of my life.

Jessie was working for most of our stay and was such a pleasure. We had a really nice couple of days away from home, and the whole place was lovely. The rooms were clean and the refrigerator worked great. I'll be back soon. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

We paid over $170 for a room, but if you want to swim with guests, it's another $7 per person. That doesn't cover the whole day either, so leave and come back and you owe another $7 each time. Even kids 3 and under are charged. The place feels poorly maintained, and the owners seem focused on squeezing money out of guests. Staff were barely helpful and often standoffish. There are also several full-time motel residents, which makes visiting with family or friends less than ideal. Air BnB would be a much better stay, or just skip Gladwin.
