Rundle Suites

The location is hard to beat, just a quick walk or short drive from Glasgow’s shops and eateries. We had a very comfortable stay at the Rundle Suites. Our room was clean, and there were little coffee and tea stations placed around our floor, plus a lounge area. The elevator worked well, and I loved its retro look. It reminded me of my grandma’s apartment and my dad’s office buildings when I was little. 💯 Recommend!

I stayed at Rundle Suites for about a month while working for PTI (Professional Transportation Inc.). During that time, I repeatedly asked for basic housekeeping, including fresh sheets and towels, trash removal, and toiletries. My room was never serviced for the entire month. I had to buy toiletries and take out my own trash, and I never got clean towels or sheets. Once, when I asked for service, a staff member yelled “no.” Other rooms were regularly cleaned, while mine and another guest’s, who is also Black, were the only ones left unserviced. Given that pattern, I believe race may have played a role in how we were treated. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially to people of color.

The hotel let us check out very late to fit our afternoon train schedule, and the people there were very nice. We had comfortable beds and the sort of room amenities you’d find at a nice chain hotel. This was a great overnight stop for our Amtrak Empire Builder trip, just one block from the depot. It’s a renovated older building with a different feel from a typical hotel. The restaurant across the street doesn’t look like much from outside, but the food is really good. By the way, Glasgow MT literally comes up when you Google “middle of nowhere”!
