The rooms each have their own charm, and the grounds are beautifully kept. Right in the heart of Glastonbury, the Connecticut River Valley Inn is a lovely spot in a quintessential New England town. The proprietors go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and at home, with a personal warmth that adds a lot to the stay. It would suit a relaxing getaway or a special event.

I visited for a bridal shower and was struck by how spectacular the grounds are. The first floor inside is beautiful too, especially the lovely living room and sun porch. And the kitchen is to die for! I wasn’t staying overnight, so I can’t speak to the rooms, though if they’re anything like the first floor, they’d be exceptional.

The grounds are lovely and the inn seems well kept, but working with the owner, Pat, made arranging our event very difficult. My fiancé and I wanted to hold a 50-person engagement party there. We were promised use of the entire first floor and patio, so we booked it and paid a deposit. Then we heard nothing from the inn for months. We tried several times to get in touch to sort out logistics and see the space before the event, and started getting worried, though we still loved the venue. When Pat finally replied, she seemed to think we hadn’t confirmed or paid and appeared to have us mixed up with another event. We also learned that several things discussed at our original meeting now cost extra or weren’t available. We made several more attempts to reach her afterward, without success. After so many failed texts, emails, and calls, it was disappointing that Pat made it seem as if we hadn’t done our due diligence. We had to make the hard choice to move the party just three weeks before the event. We did get the deposit back after showing proof we had paid it six months earlier.

The Art Retreat at this Inn was an amazing experience. Our bedroom accommodations were peaceful, clean, and comfortable, and I loved opening the balcony doors to sunshine, fresh air, and the birds singing in the morning. Pat and Wayne were very kind and generous. The food was freshly made and delicious each day, and Pat made sure meals were prepared for anyone with allergies. The food and table settings felt fit for a princess. The Studio was just right for our Art Retreat. I’d highly recommend the Inn for a wonderful experience or retreat.

Finding the right place for my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner took a long time because I had a particular setting and feel in mind for the event. Pat was responsive, caring, and accommodating. Her Inn is gorgeous, and the grounds are pristine. Our guests had a great time moving comfortably between the beautifully appointed indoor rooms and the outdoor seating patio and bar. Pat made everyone feel welcome. My husband and I are grateful to Pat for a memorable evening.
