Hampton Inn & Suites Chadds Ford

The breakfast was the good kind of free, with omelets, waffles, pancakes, cereal, muffins, and oatmeal. The hotel was great, but construction was going on and the hot tub was out of order. That was a major letdown since we booked specifically for the hot tub.

I was used to much better from Hampton Inn & Suites, so my stay at The Hampton Inn & Suites Chadds Ford was disappointing. The room I moved to wasn't much better than the first one. I asked to switch because the toilet seat was yellow and quite worn, and staff couldn't replace it. I also found dust on all the lampshades in the first room. On three occasions, nobody was at the front desk to help me. When I asked at noon whether our room was ready, I was told early check-in would cost $50. Next time I'm visiting Longwood Gardens, I'll look for another hotel in the area.

Management dealt with problems only after they came up, and when we raised a concern, we got rude responses. The room information said towels and other items would be refreshed every other day, but nobody came. Coffee and creamer at breakfast also weren't replenished each morning unless we specifically asked. We had to change rooms as soon as we arrived because the A/C wasn't working. The main overhead light was broken too, and it wasn't fixed until the night before we left. It was a very poor experience. We won't be back and don't recommend it.

The front desk service was excellent and friendly, and that really helped our stay. The location worked well for restaurants, a movie theater, and shopping, though we needed a rental car. The hotel was clean, but the rooms and common areas could use renovations, especially around the elevators.
