Country Woods Inn

Breakfast was amazing, and the team had clearly put thought into activities for the kids over Easter weekend. The weather didn’t let us make full use of the outdoor area next to the Airstream, but we had such a good time anyway, and it gives us a reason to return on a sunnier day. The kids were thrilled to sleep in an Airstream, which made things feel like an adventure right from arrival. A donkey and two horses were just outside, and feeding the farm animals was a highlight for them. The Airstream was spotlessly clean, too. We had a wonderful family stay at Country Woods Inn. I’d recommend it to families wanting a memorable getaway that’s not too far from home. 🐴

The Inn sits on the Paluxy River, and we enjoyed walking along it and exploring. We went in January and had a fire in the pit just a few feet from where we slept. On 40 acres, there’s plenty to discover, along with farm animals, things for children to play with, and lots of peace and quiet. We stayed in the South Wing, and the whole place felt magical to my husband and me. It’s unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed. The building is old, which might bother some people, but we thought that added to its charm. We’ll definitely bring the grandchildren next time. As another review suggested, bring paper goods since the kitchen supplies are limited.

Our boys loved the animals, especially the little brown goat. He had so much personality, and we’d often find him hanging out in the art studio, waiting for head scratches. The goats will even take leaves from the tree next to the farmhouse right out of your hand. The kids also had fun building "damns" in the river and splashing around. We made great memories here. You can walk downtown for a meal or to browse the shops. Highly recommend Baked for breakfast or lunch. Country Woods Inn is a farm with restored historic buildings, lots of charm, thoughtful decor, and the basic amenities you need. Don’t come expecting luxury. Our two boys loved the animals, and the location worked perfectly.

The Carriage House was so cute and cozy, right beside all the animals. Saturday breakfast in the barn was really good, and the couple looking after the property were so kind. The place is beautiful and peaceful, with a great location. I’d recommend it for families with kids, especially animal lovers, who want to unplug and spend time in nature together. We loved the farm experience, but my 7yo son loved it most of all. He was especially taken with the bunnies, didn’t want to leave them, and is already asking to come back.
