This felt more like a BnB than a hotel, and I had a really pleasant stay. The building and dining room have a nice 1920s-1930s arts and crafts look, and my room was comfortable, with the facilities all in good order. Those big, thick towels were a nice touch. The main downside was a musty, old carpet smell on the stairs, and to a lesser extent in my room. The innkeeper was friendly and helpful, service was good, and breakfast included an awesome parmesan mushroom baked eggs dish. The location worked perfectly for my plans.

The room was cute and clean, and the staff and owner were so accommodating with our requests. Being right on the river and within walking distance of everything in town made the location hard to beat. We loved the homemade breakfast each morning, and it was convenient to have a restaurant and bar on site with great cocktails. Wonderful stay, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

Our stay turned into a lovely spur-of-the-moment trip, and we’ll definitely come back to see more of Glen Rose. The hotel had a peaceful, old-fashioned feel, like life had slowed down. We stayed in a beautiful, comfortable room with a king-size bed, looking out at the River, where ducks and geese swam and played. The house was built in 1919, and it has all the character you’d expect. There are puzzles, books, and fun games indoors and outside. The owners were very accommodating and even lent us a USB power brick to charge our phones. Breakfast came with the room and was easily worth $20 or more per person. The owner, who’s also a chef, made an extraordinary egg bake with Parmesan, asparagus, and bourbon maple bacon, plus whipped cream cheese toast with a blackberry jelly compote.

Pam was kind, helpful, and easy to work with, and she often checked whether we needed anything. The town was cute, and the location suited us well, though most places close early and shut on Mondays. The river behind the property was lovely and peaceful, and the pub food was fine, with fantastic tator tots. We enjoyed the many games in the living room. The shower was the best, with great pressure and very hot water for several showers and baths. The staff were friendly and easy to work with, and the tea selection was fantastic. There were some gaps in the amenities: no hairdryer, extras, or snacks, and I had to ask for hot water for tea around 8 am. It would have been nice to have it available all day, or at least morning and evening. Breakfast tasted good but was very basic, without extras. The bed was okay, neither great nor terrible. Pam is doing a great job keeping the place running, but it’s a bit run down. I’ve stayed at many bed-and-breakfast places, and most have more snacks, drinks, and breakfast choices like pastries, toast, and jams. It’s a decent place if you’re not used to the usual B&B amenities. One big problem for me was the noise: semi-trucks drove loudly right outside our window all night and kept me awake the first night. Earplugs helped, so bring some.

Sitting in the chairs beside the river is hard to beat, and we’re already looking forward to coming back in the spring. My wife and I try to visit twice a year, once in spring and once in fall. The property is always lovely, the staff are friendly, and the four-legged staff are even more so. We also love the food at Snyder's, and the complimentary breakfast is something to look forward to.
